Kings Hill 2011
Size: 115cm x 115cm
Inktjet print

The work Kings Hill is in collaboration with graphic designer Linda Beumer.

“Silver City with the Golden Sands, built at the mounth of the Don and the Dee lies Kings Hill. Where roundabouts were decorated with signs, telling you that you were driving through Aberdeen the Oil Capital of Europe”

Coming from an expat background I was intrigued by the question how people manipulate their direct environment to create a sense of home. I traveled to Scotland to photograph the expat community where my parents briefly lived. Linda Beumer responded visually to the images where she emphasizes the sense of artificiality and abandonment.
